Citing CSIS estimates, Peter Diamandis notes the US can design world-class AI chips but manufactures remarkably little memory at home: Micron currently produces less than 2% of its own memory-chip supply in the US. This highlights a major weak spot in the US AI hardware supply chain, with memory (including HBM) a critical bottleneck for AI training and inference.
