X Corp sends C&D letters; Nitter and XCancel mirrors go offline
mobilio · hn · 2026-08-26
X's third-party frontends were hit simultaneously by X Corp legal action: XCancel received a cease-and-desist letter on Aug 24 and has stopped the service; Nitter got a C&D demanding permanent takedown of all instances and the repository — nitter.net is offline and development has halted. The maintainers of the 2- and 7-year-old projects are both seeking legal advice.
