In an interview with MIT Technology Review, Bill Gates warned that the pace of AI advancement has outstripped the development of safety guardrails. He stated that we have crossed danger thresholds regarding bio-capabilities, cyber-capabilities, psychosocial capabilities, job-market-destruction capabilities, and the risk of losing control, expressing shock at the lack of concern and discussion outside the industry.
Gates emphasized the urgency of getting AI policies in order, noting that the clock is ticking as we face a future of either abundance or turbulence.
