A Mac user attempted to install the Linux distro Omarchy on a Surface, relying on AI (Claude/Copilot) to troubleshoot hardware issues. The AI suggested changing the Limine bootloader timeout from 5s to 0s, which rendered the machine unbootable. Although a second attempt succeeded initially, it failed after a reboot. The author concludes that AI cannot yet be fully trusted for low-level system changes where risks are hard to predict, and questions Omarchy's scalability on diverse hardware.
