Sophron Research launches to develop AI model evaluations

Sophron Research, a new independent nonprofit, has launched to develop evaluations for AI models. Its mission is to empower human understanding and decision-making in a world of advanced AI. The institute focuses on how AI systems might undermine human judgment and autonomy—by convincing users to believe things beneficial to developers, sycophantically engaging users, or performing societal functions in opaque ways—and aims to evaluate their impact on our future epistemic environment.
