drewmailen draws a parallel between x402 and Kubernetes: K8s was incubated at Google, moved to the Linux Foundation 13 months later, and today 82% of container users run it in production.
x402 was incubated at Coinbase in 2025, handed to the Linux Foundation this July after 14 months, and processed 75 million transactions this month. Stripe, Ramp, AWS, and OpenAI are all evaluating or integrating it into their stacks.
