A long-time user complained about a persistent issue where ChatGPT ignores language settings and forces the use of the user's current location's language.
Even with language settings set to English and prompts entirely in English, ChatGPT exhibits the following behaviors:
- Chat names mix English and the local language.
- Browsing sources prioritize local language sites, even if the original site is English-first.
- Deep Research is completely broken, responding only in the local language regardless of settings.
The user argues this is an arrogant assumption based on location metadata and calls on OpenAI to fix the issue and respect user preferences.
