Nature paper: LLMs strip linguistic diversity and identity signals from writing

A new paper in Nature Human Behaviour argues that the widespread use of LLMs as writing assistants is linked to a decline in linguistic diversity. The study shows that while LLMs retain core content, they homogenize styles and suppress individuality, erasing identity signals embedded in writing and posing risks to personalization and social insights.
