AI tackles 60-year quantum chemistry challenge, enabling linear scaling
deliprao · x · 2026-08-25
Anima Anandkumar's team announced a breakthrough in quantum chemistry, solving the 60-year challenge of making Density Functional Theory (DFT) scale nearly linearly with system size. Previous AI attempts struggled with extrapolation, particularly on systems larger than training data, but this work paves the way for simulating realistic, previously expensive systems.
