After nearly six years without PMF, OpenBB shuts down and open-sources its entire product suite

OpenBB founder Didier Lopes announced the company is winding down. Started as Gamestonk Terminal over Christmas 2020, the team built the open-source terminal, SDK (now Open Data Platform), Bot, Workspace, Copilot, and an Excel add-in, but never found product-market fit for a sustainable business. The entire product suite is now open-sourced under a permissive license, with Lopes arguing the vision — that firms and individuals should own their research platforms — is inevitable.
