Jalapeño ASIC outperforms comparable TPUs, challenging existing giants

Gavin Baker notes that Etched's Jalapeño ASIC outperforms comparable TPUs and competes with Rubin. It marks the first competitive ASIC outside of TPU and Trainium. However, Baker suggests it will likely underperform against a disaggregated GPU/Trainium plus SRAM accelerator setup, especially with AFFN disaggregation.
