Humanoid robot invents new running style to avoid shoulder overheating

A 400m-running humanoid robot developed a unique running posture to solve an overheating issue. Engineers initially designed it with human-like arm swings, but this overloaded the shoulder joints. Through reinforcement learning in a simulated environment, the robot independently "invented" a new style: holding hands near its face to reduce shoulder load while maintaining leg power. This behavior emerged from data iteration to better suit its physical constraints.
