Speculative Programmatic Tool Calling Speeds Up Agents

Research introduces Speculative Programmatic Tool Calling (sPTC), a technique to address the bottleneck of tool calls in agentic applications. By predicting which tool the LLM will call next during code generation, the system executes and caches the result in advance. This overlaps tool call latency with token generation and REPL execution, significantly improving performance.
