AI Filmmaking Insight: Image Quality is Solved, Storytelling is the Bottleneck
taherdhanera · x · 2026-08-25
The author argues that the bottleneck in AI filmmaking is no longer image quality, but meaning. While AI can generate perfect scenes and camera movements, it cannot determine why a shot belongs in the story.
The author proposes a simple editing test: “If I remove this shot, does the story lose anything?” If the answer is no, the shot goes—regardless of how stunning it looks. AI has made generating images easier, but it has not made creative decisions easier. This is the clearest difference between creating AI videos and making AI films.
