Claude Code native installer crashes on glibc 2.44
juanknebel · ghdev · 2026-08-25
A user reported that the Claude Code native binary installer (v2.1.243) crashes with SIGSEGV on CachyOS (Arch-based, glibc 2.44). The crash occurs inside glibc's newlocale/free, suggesting a compatibility issue with the bundled Bun runtime on newer glibc versions. It reproduces 100% of the time, even during the installer's post-install step. The environment has been ruled out for locale errors and missing CPU instructions.
