Research: Speculative Programmatic Tool Calling Speeds Up Code Gen
a1zhang · x · 2026-08-25
Alex Zhang introduced Speculative Programmatic Tool Calling (sPTC), a technique to optimize code generation efficiency. By speculating on tool calls during generation and queuing them early, sPTC allows tool execution to overlap with token generation and REPL runtime. This approach reduces latency caused by the serial nature of traditional tool calling in LLM workflows.
