Nvidia reportedly invested $1B in AI startup Poolside and committed another $6B for non-exclusive rights to its "model factory" tech, aiming to challenge top open-source models like DeepSeek. This strategy seeks to drive demand for Nvidia's chips via the open-source ecosystem. Nvidia previously released the open-source Nemotron series and formed an alliance with Mistral and Perplexity. The deal structure uses non-exclusive licensing to avoid antitrust scrutiny.
