ResNet Co-author Ren Shaoqing Launches Embodied AI Startup, Nio to Invest

Ren Shaoqing, renowned AI scientist, ResNet co-author, and Nio's SVP of Intelligent Driving, has founded a new company focused on physical AI and embodied intelligence robotics. Nio CEO William Li announced the news internally, confirming that Nio will make a strategic investment and collaborate with the new entity. The startup has completed registration with a unicorn-level valuation exceeding $1 billion. Ren will continue to lead Nio's intelligent driving business. His expertise in Nio's World Model (NWM) is considered a key technical foundation for this new venture into robotics.
