Founder Take: Don't Spend More Than $500 on a Domain Name

A founder's advice for indie makers: a domain name isn't worth spending more than $500 on. You just need one that isn't actively bad—chasing the perfect ".com" is pointless.

The reasoning: fewer than 5% of users type domains into the address bar. Most type the product name into the omnibox/Google and click the suggested or search result, so discovery runs through search and brand terms, not the domain itself.
