Disabling Qwen 3.8 27B's chain of thought improves coding efficiency
N34257 · reddit · 2026-08-25
Testing revealed that Qwen 3.8 27B's built-in thinking mode significantly slowed down performance. By disabling it and offloading reasoning to an external harness, the model retained high intelligence and instruction-following capabilities (correcting prompt errors) without noticeable accuracy drops, leading to much higher efficiency, though occasional loop monitoring is still required.
