Nature Methods published a paper on ProteinDPO, a method using Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) to align a protein language model. Designed to generate thermostable protein sequences, it achieves stability prediction competitive with specialized models and consistently outperforms unsupervised and fine-tuned versions, generalizing beyond training data.
