Vercel Sandbox Now Globally Available with Regional Failover
cramforce · x · 2026-08-25
Vercel has announced global availability for Vercel Sandbox, introducing region selection and failover capabilities to reduce latency and enhance reliability.
- Regions: Initially available in iad1 (Washington D.C.), sfo1 (San Francisco), cle1 (Cleveland), and cdg1 (Paris), with support for all Vercel regions coming soon.
- Key Features:
- Users can select regions close to their data sources to minimize latency.
- Pro and Enterprise teams can configure failover regions; if the primary region is down, new sandboxes automatically start in the closest failover region.
- Constraints: Snapshots remain in their created region and cannot be moved, though Vercel handles cross-region loading during failover automatically.
- Configuration: Default and failover regions can be set via project settings or the Vercel CLI.
