SpaceX plans million-satellite constellation with Nvidia Vera Rubin compute, scaling Grok to 10GW

SpaceX is targeting Q4 2027 for the first "Starmind" launch, featuring satellites equipped with space-optimized Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 racks (72 GPUs + 36 CPUs per rack). SpaceX designed its own lighter rack architecture, described as a "radical simplification" of the standard NVL72, which will also be used for ground deployments. The solar-powered satellites will beam results via Starlink lasers, with each unit providing datacenter-class compute. Elon Musk stated plans for up to 1 million satellites and an exclusive partnership with Nvidia. Grok's ground compute capacity is also set to scale from 2GW to approximately 10GW.
