SpaceX's space data center concept is much simpler than imagined, essentially boiling down to chips, power, and cooling. The main engineering challenges—generating enough power in space and dissipating massive waste heat—are areas where Starlink provides a significant head start. SpaceX has already built expertise in large-scale solar arrays, power systems, and thermal hardware for satellites, which can now be leveraged to launch critical AI data center components into orbit.
