Hacker cracks ABB control plane, achieves 20 micron precision
SimonOlsn · x · 2026-08-25
The author cracked ABB Robotics' control plane and rebuilt the API in an afternoon, enabling the GoFa arm to operate at 20 microns (0.02 mm) precision. The hardware was always capable, but the proprietary stack restricted external commands. This demonstrates that owning a robot cell requires control beyond the default pendant.
