- Finding the tumor's mutations: some variant callers use machine learning (e.g. Google's DeepVariant), others use statistical models.
- Ranking mutation candidates: predicting which fragments will likely be displayed by the patient's immune molecules and trigger a T-cell response — very likely machine learning.
