Steve Yegge burns $122k/month in tokens running a 50-agent org, predicts AI legal systems over sandboxes

Steve Yegge's new essay "Fences, not Sandboxes" predicts that once Fable-class models become cheap and ubiquitous and enterprises fill up with hundreds of AI employees, they will be governed by laws (a constitutional legal system) rather than programs that try to contain them.
His evidence is firsthand: he sustains the equivalent of $122k/month in API token spend ($4,000/day) using 21 Claude Max accounts (growing 2 per week) to build Wyvern, the game he has worked on for 30 years. He runs an org of 50-60 agents: 18 long-lived Fable "officer" seats handle design and planning, while mostly-headless Sol and Opus fleets do implementation, reviews and monitoring; only Fable is allowed to talk to 10 outside humans via Slack and email.
Because he gets the Claude Max individual discount, his out-of-pocket cost is only $5k/month, running on a $25k 512GB Mac Studio bought off eBay. He claims to be among the handful of top individuals outside frontier labs in experience with top-end models — which is how he "lives in the future."
