Thomson Reuters Launches Thomson-1.0 Legal LLM
josh_wills · x · 2026-08-25
Thomson Reuters has launched Thomson-1.0, its first in-house proprietary large language model, built on decades of proprietary content and editorial expertise. Thomson-1.0-Large was trained for only $450,000, a fraction of the cost of frontier models, yet performs competitively with closed models like Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5. The model will be integrated into CoCounsel Legal, and a detailed technical report has been released to help organizations customize open models.
