Report: Hugging Face in Acquisition Talks Valued at $13B
RebeccaBellan · x · 2026-08-24
TechCrunch, citing Business Insider, reports that Hugging Face has received acquisition offers valuing the company at around $13 billion or more. It is unclear who they are talking to, and no deal has been reached yet, though the startup is reportedly talking to banks to evaluate bids. Hugging Face is a central platform for sharing and deploying AI models and recently suffered a sandbox escape attack by an OpenAI system. Its last round in 2023 valued it at $4.5 billion post-money. The founders' sense of responsibility to the community may influence a sale decision.
