Thomson Reuters Launches Proprietary LLM 'Thomson' at Fraction of Frontier Costs

Thomson Reuters announced "Thomson," its first proprietary LLM, built in-house on a strong open-source foundation. Leveraging 175 years of proprietary data and domain expertise, the model reportedly performs on par with frontier models across key tasks but at a fraction of the compute and inference cost. It will first power the CoCounsel Legal product, setting a "Fiduciary-Grade AI" standard for professional use cases where accuracy is critical.
