Hidden AI Bottleneck: MLCC Costs Soar 182%
tengyanAI · x · 2026-08-24
The next bottleneck in AI buildout is Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC). While commodity MLCCs are well-supplied, high-capacitance grades needed for AI accelerators are tightening: Taiyo Yuden's book-to-bill is 1.7x, Murata's high-end utilization is at 95%, and SEMCO raised prices by 30%. A teardown reveals MLCC content per rack jumped from $1,530 for GB300 to $4,320 for VR200, a 182% increase.
