Trained a Latent Refiner to Fix GPT Image Artifacts, Released ComfyUI Workflow
INDIEGOO · reddit · 2026-08-24
To address stipple and grid-like artifacts in GPT Image outputs, the author trained a small latent residual refiner using 75 paired artifact/clean images, supporting VAE profiles for Qwen, FLUX.2, and SDXL.
- Workflow: The refiner alone is subtle, so a ComfyUI workflow combining it with SeedVR2 is provided. The process involves downscaling the input, then restoring and upscaling it.
- Goal: A preservation-first alternative to standard Hires Fix, aiming to clean textures and rebuild details while maintaining the original composition and identity as much as possible.
Custom nodes, example workflows, and settings are available on GitHub.
