Codex Hidden Setting: Enabling Max effort unlocks higher reasoning depth

OpenAI's Codex has a "Max effort" setting disabled by default. Enabling it provides a 6th reasoning level that sits above "Extra High" but below "Ultra". Early testing suggests it delivers significantly better performance.
