CAS Framework Uses Conformal Prediction to Curb Overconfident, Wasteful Agent Searches
_reachsumit · x · 2026-08-24
The paper introduces CAS (Conformalized Agentic Search), applying conformal prediction to search agents. It uses an Adaptive Prediction Set (APS) to size retrieval based on query difficulty and employs Adaptive Conformal Inference (ACI) to quantify answer confidence, penalizing low-confidence trajectories during GRPO training. Experiments show the framework significantly improves reasoning accuracy while drastically reducing redundant tool invocations.
