Cetus: open-source macOS desktop unifying Claude Code, Codex and agent harnesses
aigclink · x · 2026-08-24
Open-source Cetus is a macOS desktop layer that doesn't replace Claude Code, Codex or DeepSeek Harness, but adds the entry, ambient context, scheduling and review layer terminals handle poorly. Highlights:
- Quick Launcher: double-⌘ summon with auto-attached context (screenshot, frontmost app, browser URL, selection), each removable
- Automations: turn any prompt into one-off or recurring jobs (at/every/cron/daily), run in background chats with pinned runtime+model, results queued for review
- Global Quick Reply: double right-⌥ anywhere drafts a reply grounded in what's on screen; ⏎ fills the input, ⇥ rewrites with another runtime
- Screen Context: periodic deduped frame capture with on-device Apple Vision OCR, searchable by text or app
The author positions it in the agent tooling stack: harnessrouter for unified running, wake for history, agent-orchestrator for parallel sites, Cetus for the always-ready desktop entry point.
