Hugging Face has hired a financial adviser to explore a potential sale of its developer infrastructure business, targeting a valuation of at least $13 billion — nearly triple its $4.5 billion valuation from 2023, according to Business Insider. Neither the company nor potential buyers have confirmed, and no formal agreement has been reached.
The move follows Stripe's agreement to acquire AI model marketplace OpenRouter for roughly $8 billion, reflecting rising valuations for platforms sitting between frontier AI labs and the developers building on their models. Hugging Face's investors include Salesforce Ventures, Lux Capital and Addition.
