xAI launched Grok Build, a local terminal coding agent powered by the new Grok 4.6 model, free to try, installable with one line: curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash.
Key capabilities:
- Skills: adapts to your workflows via AGENTS.md, plugins, hooks and MCP servers out of the box; auto-invoked when a task matches, or turn any session into a skill with /skillify
- Plan mode: start complex tasks with a plan — every edit is blocked until approved; comment on individual steps or rewrite entirely, with clean diffs
- Plugin marketplaces: bundle skills, agents, hooks and MCP servers behind one install, self-host from any git repo, with integrations like Linear, Sentry, Postgres and browsers
Community resources include an interactive /tour tutorial, written walkthroughs covering AGENTS.md, skills, worktrees, plan mode and memory, and an "Autonomous Employee" style practical guide.
