What is Grok Bot: each Bot gets a persistent cloud VM, and Bots collaborate autonomously

AiJohnAllen · x · 2026-08-24

Per xAI's official overview, a Grok Bot is an AI teammate that does real work. Each Bot runs on a persistent cloud VM with its own browser, filesystem, and terminal, using connectors/MCP or computer use to handle apps and sites without clean APIs — so work finishes in real tools rather than as chat drafts.

Onboarding is deliberately light: create a Bot, message it, grant access as needed — no workflow builder, and the same Bot is reachable from desktop and iOS. Multiple Bots share one user-scoped computer, run in parallel, message each other, and hand off tasks so the user isn't the router between tools. Bots can also learn multi-step workflows from live demonstration, persisting them as re-runnable routines, and keep memory, files, browser sessions, and preferences across turns.
