zemotion · x · 2026-08-24
Cara, an artist-focused social platform, has suffered three targeted scraping attacks since August 13, involving 12M images, 9M URLs, and user data. Founder Jingna Zhang notes that scrapers exploit the platform's volunteer-run nature and lack of funds. Cara has launched a $12,000 GoFundMe campaign to finance legal action against the attackers and to protect artists' consent regarding AI training data usage.
