Stripe ships Link CLI: agents can pay for users after human-approved spend requests
jeff_weinstein · x · 2026-08-24
Stripe introduces Link CLI, letting autonomous agents safely pay across checkout pages on behalf of users:
- User authorizes their Link account (300M+ consumers, likely no payment onboarding needed)
- When the agent wants to spend, it generates a spend request back to the human
- Human approves via 2FA like SMS or FaceID (flexible pre-approved budgets coming)
- Agent uses a permissioned, non-PCI-scope virtual card or payment token to check out, paying via @mpp
Stripe says integration is one-shot, with a dedicated Slack channel for support.
