Pew: Over 1 in 3 Pages Published Post-ChatGPT Show Signs of AI Authorship

shashib · x · 2026-08-24

Citing Pew Research Center's random sample of 10,000 webpages from July 2026, this newsletter reports that 10% show signs of AI authorship — rising past one in three for pages published after ChatGPT's November 2022 launch. The rate varies sharply by domain: .com pages show roughly double the rate of .org and ten times that of .edu/.gov, and marketing content lives almost entirely on .com. The site itself is structured for LLM readability (TL;DRs, semantic HTML, llms.txt).
