OpticalDNA: Rethinking Genomic Modeling via 2D Visual Representation
jiqizhixin · x · 2026-08-23
Hunan University and Yuelushan Laboratory presented OpticalDNA (ICML 2026), a method that transforms 1D DNA sequences into 2D visual "documents" inspired by OCR. By using a vision model for spatial processing instead of sequential reading, it focuses on informative regions. It leads in long-range eQTL tasks and predicts phenotypes on whole genomes 3-25x faster than mainstream models.
