GPT-5.6 Silently Falls Back to 5.5-Mini for Days Without Acknowledgment

Multiple ChatGPT Plus subscribers report that GPT-5.6 Sol is silently routing requests to gpt-5-5-mini, producing shallow, instant responses despite High reasoning settings. Network logs confirm the server returns the smaller model slug while the UI requests Sol. The issue affects web and apps, but Work and Codex modes remain functional (using limited quota). Users provide a reproducible "count fingers" test showing Sol fails in normal ChatGPT but works in Codex. OpenAI has not acknowledged the issue, leaving uncertainty over whether it is a bug, capacity fallback, or policy change.
