AI Agents Surpass Humans in Token Consumption on OpenRouter, Growing 14x

Data from OpenRouter reveals that AI agents have consumed more tokens than humans since February 6, 2025. Agentic usage has surged 14x, while human usage grew only 2.8x. However, nearly 70% of agent consumption comes from cheap cached prompts, meaning actual costs are rising much more slowly than raw token counts suggest.
