According to the Wall Street Journal, Nvidia is reportedly planning to spend $6 billion to build one of the world's most powerful open-weight AI models. The strategy involves licensing technology from Poolside and integrating over 100 of its employees into the Nemotron project. Additionally, Nvidia is investing another $1 billion in Poolside at a $12 billion pre-money valuation. The goal is to challenge Chinese open-weight leaders like DeepSeek and Kimi while competing directly with US frontier labs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
