Nvidia AI Server Prices to Rise Over 15% Next Year, Adding $5B to 1GW Data Center Costs
量子位 · wechat · 2026-08-23
According to Bloomberg and The Information, Nvidia has notified major customers that AI server prices for delivery early next year (2027) will increase by over 15%, with some GB300 and Vera Rubin 200 systems seeing a 17% hike.
Impact of Price Hike
- A 72-GPU Vera Rubin rack is expected to rise from $7 million to $8 million.
- Building a 1GW-scale AI data center could incur at least an additional $5 billion in costs due to the price increase.
Reasons for Hike
Driven primarily by soaring memory chip costs. HBM and traditional DRAM share wafer capacity, and the surge in HBM demand squeezes standard memory supply. TrendForce predicts server RDIMM supply will grow only 15-20% in 2027, lagging behind demand, causing DRAM prices to continue rising.
Industry Response
- Some cloud providers have adjusted server memory configurations to cut costs.
- Nvidia has halved the SOCAMM memory capacity in the next-gen Vera Rubin Superchip.
- Top cloud providers (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Meta) are ramping up in-house AI chip development to reduce dependency.
