First KO at World Humanoid Robot Games; Scoble Says Teleoperation Is Underrated
Scobleizer · x · 2026-08-23
The World Humanoid Robot Games saw its first knockout win in a closely contested fight. Robert Scoble used the moment to argue teleoperation is misunderstood: knocking out an opponent from inside the robot is only really possible in VR or AR glasses. He talked with a startup building haptic gloves with fingertip sensors and per-finger motors, letting operators 'feel' what the robot touches.
He argues teleoperation will always be vital for robots, citing semiconductor fabs: humans contaminate clean rooms, so robots could raise yields and profits—but dropping a single wafer could destroy a week's profits, so reliability testing is essential.
