khademinori · x · 2026-08-23
According to Vercel AI Gateway data, the usage share of open-weight models surged from 28.4% two months ago to 62% on August 22, significantly surpassing closed-source models. Hugging Face CEO cites this as evidence that the vast majority of AI workloads will eventually rely on open models. As enterprise adoption is still early and tooling becomes more model-agnostic, this trend is expected to accelerate.
