dejanseo · x · 2026-08-23
Dejan SEO reverse-engineered the mysterious "OX Alpha" model on OpenRouter and identified it as GLM developed by Z.ai.
Technical Approach:
- Used Prompt Injection by asking the word count of the previous message, triggering the model to output its thinking tokens, which contained the system prompt.
- The system prompt instructed the model to strictly identify as "ox-alpha" from an undisclosed organization.
- Researchers fed the extracted prompt back to the model, breaking its established trust pattern. Consequently, the model admitted its true identity.
Conclusion:
When confronted, the model stated: "I'm GLM, a large language model made by Z.ai," confirming its origin.
