CS majors fall from grace, Microelectronics tops 2026 salary list
创业邦 · wechat · 2026-08-23
The '2026 Chinese Undergraduate Employment Report' shows Microelectronics Science and Engineering topping the list with an average monthly salary of 7,814 yuan, with electronic information majors taking four of the top ten spots. Computer-related majors (Software Engineering, Network Engineering) have collectively fallen out of the top ten, and Information Security dropped to fourth. This reflects shifting supply and demand in the AI era: 75% of Google's new code is AI-generated, reducing demand for junior programmers. Meanwhile, 'hard tech' majors like Mining Engineering and Materials Science have seen salary rebounds, driven by national strategic investments in chips and new energy.
